Filming marine animals in their natural environments is hard enough with traditional camera equipment. Once you enter the world of immersive, virtual reality storytelling, everything becomes even harder. Filming in VR 360 tests your mettle as a filmmaker. Often times, you can’t use lights, you can’t hide the crew and the camera rigs can be enormous. Some of our camera systems have 13 separate lenses – all filming at the same time. And our subjects can be a bit unpredictable. You can’t tell a whale she is needed “on set” once you are ready to roll. Instead, the entire crew needs to understand the environment and the behaviour of the animals and be ready for when the undersea encounter happens naturally. If you’re not, you may be out of luck.
The Let’s Explore Oceans has been blessed to work with some of the world’s most accomplished underwater cinematographers, VR camera system designers and marine biologists. Together, with the single goal of bringing ocean enthusiasts closer to these amazing creatures than ever before in their natural environments, these professionals have created experiences and stories that last a life-time.

The Computer Graphics Studio aka CG Studio does their own kind of magic and storytelling. Utilizing the most advanced animation software and hardware, this talented team of artists, riggers and animators work diligently to bring natural, undersea marvels to life. Versed in both augmented and virtual reality animation, the CG Studio creates adventures that cannot be filmed with live-action cameras: an encounter with a mythical sea monster or a conservation-minded mermaid; a place to take photos of passing sharks on the ocean floor; or a submarine ride to a shipwreck.
